A popular way people jumpstart their programming journey is by joining coding bootcamps. A coding bootcamp is a short intensive program where you go through a coding curriculum with other students and instructors. At the end, they may offer a certificate of completion or a way to network with companies who are hiring new developers.
It sounds good on paper until you see the price tag. Are they really worth it? Will I have a higher chance of landing a job after completing a bootcamp? Should I pay that much to learn something I can learn online for free? Would I be better off getting a degree?
With 10+ years of professional coding experience under my belt, I hope to clear some misconceptions about coding and bring to light some thoughts and ideas about bootcamps that I don’t see people talking about online.
In this video, you’ll learn:
-What coding bootcamps are really like
-Why bootcamps are a waste of your time and money
-Why self-learning is the better way
Here’s to self-learning!
