So, it seems that the general sentiment these days is that it’s really hard to land a software job compared to years prior. Before, you could go to a bootcamp and quickly get a software job—maybe even within a year. But nowadays, people are graduating with CS or software degrees, and they can’t even get a software job after a year of graduating.
I’ve even heard stories of senior software engineers who got laid off from their previous jobs. Now they’re looking for new software positions, but even with their experience and degrees, they’re struggling to find a software job.
In this video, I’m going to be talking about my application process, how I got my first and second software jobs, and some things I noticed about myself that helped me stand out to employers. I’ll also share my experience from the employer side of the interview process and how my employer perceived candidates who applied to my company.
