The Truth About Coding Jobs: Avoid These 3 Misconceptions

I see all these coding boot camp advertisements and people online talking about how they got a software job with no coding experience. Then, they say they were able to do it in 4 months. When I see these kinds of things online, it kind of makes me cringe a little bit because I feel like it gives people misconceptions about coding jobs.

If you look up “coding boot camp” on Google, you’ll see all these advertisements of boot camps and they’ll say stuff like:

  • “Learn how to code in 12 weeks”
  • “Become a Dev in 16+ weeks”
  • “Join thousands of grads who landed their dream jobs.”

I’m sure these people mean well, but I think it can lead to some misconceptions about coding jobs. When I talk to some beginners about coding, I can start to see some of these misconceptions coming from them.

In this video, I’m going to be sharing my thoughts after 10+ years of coding experience. I’m going to share three misconceptions that I’ve sensed in some beginner programmers before. Hopefully, by debunking these misconceptions, it’ll give you a clearer understanding of what you’re getting into if you’re just starting to learn how to code.

Thank you for watching, and happy coding! 💻🧡
